Hormones rage and there are changes in their behavior. The smell is stronger. When dogs are in heat, their scent glands become more active and they begin to secrete a stronger-smelling substance. This is why you may notice that your dog smells more strongly than he or she normally does. The smell of urine is one of the main scents that triggers sexual attraction in dogs.
